Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is leading the transformation of the long-vacant Energy Queensland site at Banyo, as part of the new Queensland Government’s nation-leading Land Activation Program. The program identifies, unlocks and releases to market underutilised Government land for housing.

EDQ is launching a market process to attract the right development partner(s) who can unlock the site’s full potential – delivering up to 400 homes and creating a thriving, connected and liveable community.

Why Banyo?

Located just 13km north of the Brisbane CBD, this 6.4-hectare site at 56 Blinzinger Road offers a rare opportunity to deliver new housing in a well-connected, high-amenity location.

The incoming developer(s) will benefit from:

  • Direct access to major road networks and public transport at the doorstep.
  • Proximity to high-quality schools, parks, sports fields and golf courses.
  • A precinct undergoing urban renewal, with growing mixed-use amenity and retail.
  • Convenient access to jobs, education and services across Brisbane’s north.

Other Key Features

  • Two development-ready opportunities within the Brisbane Local Government Area.
  • Close to established retail, education and recreational amenities.
  • Supporting a convenient and active lifestyle with a vibrant community.

What Happens Next?

EDQ will invite interest from developers through a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The process encourages proposals from industry that can help deliver high-quality, inclusive and well-integrated outcomes for the community.

We will continue to keep the community informed as planning and development progresses. To stay informed, make sure to follow this Banyo Development project page.
