Hazard Reduction Burns in 2026

19 May 2026

Planning is currently underway for hazard reduction burns required at Currumbin Eco-Parkland throughout 2026. These form a crucial part of the site’s bushfire management and ecological restoration efforts.

Due to the amount of rain during the winter of 2025, the burn planned 2025 could not go ahead and was therefore required to be rescheduled during 2026. As a result, there will be two hazard reduction burns in 2026 conducted at different times. A map showing the extent of the zones targeted this year is below.

Applications for the required permits for a burn in zone 1 (approximately 13 hectares) is currently underway, and is expected to progress in early winter. Burns in zones 2 and 3 will occur later in the season.

Further information will be posted to this Have Your Say page once a window for the burn has been identified.
