Meeting Cairns Housing Needs
The Cairns local government area is growing rapidly and the Mount Peter PDA will support this growth by delivering around 18,500 new homes to meet a range of community needs.
The Mount Peter Priority Development Area (PDA) was declared on 30 July 2025. Spanning approximately 2,650 hectares, the PDA is a critical step in giving more Queenslanders a place to call home, delivering on the Queensland Government’s commitment to build one million new homes by 2044.
