BMD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - Street Renewal Program - February 2026
19 January 2026
Construction Activities: February 2026
Welcome to the February 2026 Construction Update of the Northshore Hamilton Street Renewal Program (SRP). The SRP is being constructed by BMD and will prepare the western end of the precinct (adjacent to Portside Wharf) for six new development lots planned for mixed-use residential development in accordance with the Northshore Hamilton PDA Development Scheme.
Construction of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Work Zones, shown on the map below, will continue throughout 2026. BMD will continue to keep the community informed and provide monthly notifications of upcoming work and what to expect.
From mid‑2026, upgrade works on MacArthur Avenue between Finnegan Street and Theodore Street will commence. These works will require closing the western section of MacArthur Avenue and redirecting traffic to Theodore Street and the eastern reaches of the precinct. A temporary road will be created to maintain direct access for eastern residents and tenancies. More information on the closure and temporary road access will be provided in future updates.

Car park changes
The Yard Car Park is now open, with access available via Theodore Street and MacArthur Avenue. Dock A Car Park is now closed for general parking; however, the EV charging stations at Dock A remain open and accessible.
EDQ advises that parking on EDQ-owned land is provided to support tenants and their patrons. For more information or to enquire further please go to Northshore Hamilton | Have Your Say.
Wharf Street Temporary Park
Adjustments to the temporary park will continue in February 2026. The adjustments involve:
- fencing changes that will create two separate spaces and safely fence the children’s play area
- footpath construction
- vegetation removal
- relocation of the water drinking fountain and tap.
Park and playground equipment access will be maintained while this work is taking place.
BMD will carry out vegetation removal on Wednesday, 21 January 2026. This work is pending weather and site conditions permitting. The vegetation to be removed is circled in red in the image below.
Wharf Work Zone
Demolition of the existing wharf parallel to the Brisbane River and Stage 1 Work Zone is underway. This work will involve environmental monitoring and the safe removal of timber and materials.
Stage 1 Work Zone
Demolition and site clearing in Stage 1 include:
- delivery and removal of plant, materials and equipment
- asphalting and concreting
- fencing adjustments

Earthworks continue in Stage 2; other work includes the delivery and removal of plant, materials and equipment and material stockpiling.
Activities across all work zones
Other intermittent activities within and near the work zones, including the future work zones of MacArthur Avenue and the intersection of MacArthur Avenue, Finnegan Street and Wharf Street, will include movement of materials and equipment between work zones, surveying and service location environmental monitoring.
