NORTHSHORE HAMILTON: PRECINCT WORKS UPDATE

18 May 2026

Wharf Street Temporary Park closure: Monday 8 June to Tuesday 16 June 2026 (weather permitting)

Further improvement works will be undertaken at Wharf Street Temporary Park to enhance community access and connectivity throughout the park.

Works are scheduled from Monday, 8 June to Tuesday, 16 June 2026, weather permitting. During this period, the off-leash dog area will be closed while work is underway.

The adjacent children’s playground will be closed intermittently during construction due to the movement of concrete trucks and other construction activities. The playground will remain open when it is safe to do so.

The planned works include:

  • installing a second entry point and gate, along with connecting concrete pathways to improve access into the park
  • retaining the existing fencing and gate on the Rivello side, with a new concrete connection to the Rivello forecourt.

Please see the plan below for details of the works.

Information about closures and work timings will also be displayed on signage within the park.

During the works, park users may wish to visit Hercules Street Park, located approximately 300 metres from Wharf Street Temporary Park.
