Northshore Street Renewal Program works update

23 September 2025

EDQ’s priority is to fast-track homes by delivering supporting infrastructure in the Northshore Hamilton Priority Development Area (PDA).

Street renewal upgrades within the precinct are currently being delivered. The next stage of work will prepare the western end of the precinct (adjacent to Portside Wharf) for six new development lots planned for mixed-use residential development in accordance with the Northshore Hamilton PDA Development Scheme.

BMD will get construction underway in September 2025. The first stage of the program involves constructing a temporary car park on the corner of MacArthur Avenue and Theodore Street, as well as removing some of the ageing, dilapidated and unused wharf structures to prepare for the delivery of new riverside infrastructure. These works will be undertaken in line with regulatory environmental approvals, allowing for the planned upgrade of the western end of MacArthur Avenue.

Construction activities 2025

Car Park works

Construction will start on a new temporary car park (named The Yard) located on the corner of Theodore Street and MacArthur Avenue, opposite Dock C. The Yard will provide equivalent parking spaces to those in the current Dock A Car Park, supporting the continued operation of Northshore tenants, such as Eat Street.

The Yard is forecast for completion in late 2025 to early 2026, at which time Dock A Car Park will close. Advanced notification will be provided ahead of the closure of Car Park A. Please adhere to the car park terms and conditions and ensure all vehicles are removed from the car park before closure.

Dock A Demolition works

Demolition and site clearing will begin in Dock A between the Brisbane River and MacArthur Avenue. This will include the removal of the existing wharf structures and existing hardstand surfaces to prepare for the new riverside infrastructure.

A temporary connection through to Bincote Street will also be created. This will allow a temporary detour whilst upgrade works to MacArthur Avenue are completed. A small section of the temporary Wharf Close Park will be used to facilitate construction; however, the park will remain open, fenced, and continue to operate under the current terms and conditions. Access to the existing EV chargers will be maintained during these works.

Future works

From mid-2026, upgrade works on MacArthur Avenue between Finnegan Street and Theodore Street will commence. This will require closing the western section of MacArthur Avenue and redirecting traffic to Wharf Street and along the newly created riverside lane that will continue through to Bincote Street.

Future works from 2026

Work hours

Construction may occur from 6.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 6.30am to 4.00pm Fridays and Saturdays, excluding public holidays, in accordance with Brisbane City Council regulations.

Work impacts

While these works are underway, there may be some intermittent construction noise, truck movements, and temporary traffic changes. BMD will work to minimise disruption wherever possible and provide advance notice of any significant changes.
