About Southport Priority Development Area

The Southport Priority Development Area (PDA) was declared by regulation on 4 October 2013 and delegated the responsibility for development assessment to the City of Gold Coast. As such, development on site is assessable against the Southport PDA Development Scheme (July 2022) with City of Gold Coast Council as the assessment manager.

The 198.3ha Southport PDA boundary covers the traditional Southport business centre and includes the former Gold Coast hospital site, Broadwater Parklands and residential areas north of Railway Street and south of Queen Street.

It contains a mix of uses centred on Nerang and Scarborough streets and includes retail, entertainment, financial, medical, educational, legal and community use.

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) has released a 5,420m2 parcel of land at 1-3 Scarborough Street, in the Southport Priority Development Area (PDA). This prime site could potentially deliver more than 300 new homes as part of a high-density residential or mixed-use development opportunity within the heart of Southport.

Site Vision and Opportunity

The vision for the site is to release under-utilised, government-owned land to the market to fast-track residential development and create more places for Queenslanders to call home.

Providing an opportunity for development planning and approvals to be finalised prior to land settlement supports a smooth transition to construction commencement.

Key Features

  • 5,420m2 of development ready land in the heart of Southport
